Helping YOU help your Pet
All my services put your animals’ needs front and centre in a safe and caring environment. I work in a variety of ways depending on the needs of you and your pet, always using positive, force free methods, proven to work in canine behaviour. Take a look below at the detailed descriptions of all the services I provide. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Please contact me.
My 1:1 sessions are a popular service, which I've been developing and improving since I started Positive Paws. They involve an intimate understanding of your animal’s natural and individual history. Your pet has plenty of potential to learn and understand commands, and my techniques will lay the foundation for you to build upon. I combine your needs and wants with the natural attributes of your pet.
1:1 Sessions cost £50 for an 2 hour initial appointment, with a £10 non refundable deposit to secure your session. Further sessions are £30 per hour, which can be booked individually or as block sessions, which may require advance payment to secure your slots. Block sessions can be booked as 4 sessions for £100, saving you money in the long run, which can be taken weekly or fortnightly to suit your lifestyle and work patterns.
You will receive worksheets for some of the behaviours we cover during sessions and a training plan via email if needed, but will leave with the tools to work alone with your dog until our next session. Help inbetween is available via email support.
Packages available for new puppy owners starting from £100, with a free session to their first class.
Towards the end of Autumn 2022, Classes will be moving to a new location, at Hardwick Narrows (near the Skoda Garage). They will be held in my new purpose Unit, which will also have a small shop selling natural treats and training equipment. Socialisation sessions and confidence building sessions will be added to the timetable and the Unit will also be available out of teaching hours to hire, for practicing your recall or off lead play in a secure environment.
Learning starts from as soon as your puppy is born and I want to give you the best possible start to building that important bond with them. But classes are for older dogs too- its never to late to start some more training with your dog. Classes are a great way to gain socialisation skills with your dog and learn along side other owners, in a safe, fun environment. Everything is taught using up to date, positive training methods, I don't allow the use of anything that your dog would find aversive.
Joining me with your new puppy you will learn everything from the basic 'SIT' to safe handling of your puppy, appropriate play, walking on a loose lead and the first steps of recall. Plus much more along the way!
As classes progress and the learning pushes your dogs ability they will learn an emergency stop, jumps and crawling and some basic scentwork- to name a few. All classes are taught in a way that is inclusive for all, I welcome children to my classes as I believe its really important for your children to be involved with their pet and learn appropriate ways to play with them. I've had wheelchair users in classes to, it's important that everyone can learn what they feel they need, adapting exercises to suit the individual owner and pet.
Classes are currently held in two locations in King's Lynn:
Monday evenings and Sunday Mornings at the South Lynn Scout hut, where we have the use of indoors and outdoor facilities. Tuesday and mornings and evenings on the Playing field at North Wootton.
Classes are £7.50 (rising to £8 in August) per hourly session, these are paid for the month ahead. As long as payment is made on time your place is secured for the following month. Discounts available if you bring multiple dogs.
I never mind someone visiting a class to see how they are run and to decide if my classes are right for you and your dog. Please let me know in advance to arrange this as some dogs can be nervous of new people.
